Lenny Kravitz misses his stop
What?: Lenny Kravitz is to jump onto MySpace about three years too late. The ‘Get On The Bus With The Love Revolution’ campaign asks fans to submit videos via MySpace, highlighting why they should be part of the upcoming Get On The Bus tour. Lenny’s retro tour bus will pick up a winner and a friend in each city along the route of the tour enabling them to ‘hang out’ with him. The ‘experience’ will be recorded and placed on both MySpace and Lenny’s official site.
The campaign preempts the 5th February release of his latest album ‘It Is Time for a Love Revolution’.
So what?: Lenny crawls out of his cave and finds the world has changed. Poor guy. Not only has the world moved on from his tired retro music, but its moved on from MySpace too. Both Facebook and Bebo are making a considered move on MySpace’s musical ties. Plus the whole Tour bus concept comes across as a badly disguised attempt at picking up groupies en route.
“Lenny Kravitz mustn’t have an alarm clock in his retro-rock bachelor pad as he’s clearly slept through the majority of the 21st Century. This is a shockingly-late play in social networking that actually comes across like the clumsy punch line to a poorly set up joke. Lenny is like someone showing up at 4am for a party. When everyone else went home at 3am. The week before”
