The changing face of fashion
What?: Hayden Panettiere, the star of NBC series Heroes – who is now embarking on a singing career with an imminent album release – is to be the new face of Candie’s clothing. “I am excited to be working with Candie’s. Their campaigns are fun and playful and always feature the hottest stars. I am honored to be the new Candie’s girl.”
Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie (formerly a Candie’s girl herself, as reported in BBF back in May 2007) is now set to become the new face of fashion House Calvin Klein. “She loves the classic Calvin look, and it’s one of the designers she’s considering for her wedding dress,” said a spokesperson.
OutKast’s André 3000 has created his own clothing line. The Benjamin Bixby range (for ‘rebel gentleman’), inspired by US prep style and college football from the 1930s, will be available in Barneys department store.
So what?: Candie’s has drafted in numerous musicians previously, including Kelly Clarkson, Ashlee Simpson, Hillary Duff and Fergie. Now, however, Fergie appears to be pitching for a Calvin Klein-endorsed Hello!-style wedding. As for André, is anyone – other than himself – really going to want to rock his Bugsy Malone style? We’re hoping fashion houses start to make bold music investments outside of basic badging and celebrity lines.
“Wholesome teen queen Panettiere will no doubt resonate with the underage fashionistas who wear Candie’s; whether the often questionably-attired Fergie does the same for the classic, always appropriately-attired Calvin customer, however, remains to be seen.”
