The Chairmen of the Board
What?: It’s the hottest day of the year here in the UK today (apparently), and we can certainly feel it. Staring out of the window from BBF Towers at the clear blue sky, our minds (and hearts) instinctively turn to the beach.
Next week, Europe’s largest Surf & Skate music festival – Rip Curl Boardmasters – touches down in the UK. The event, held in Newquay in Cornwall from 4th-10th August, will see the world’s greatest surfers competing for a grand prize of over $100,000. Plus the Vans Summer Sessions will pitch skaters against each other for total winnings of $20,000.
The event is in association with the Relentless energy drink, with Fosters, Land Rover, Kodak, Vans, Hawaiian Tropic, and Ripcurl all getting some of the high-octane sponsorship action.
Between all the ollie airwalks and frontside-carving 360s, numerous bands will also be centre stage over the course of the week. The Unleashed Festival main stage will see performances from Groove Armada, The Zutons, The Futureheads, and Reverend & The Makers, while the Unleashed No Half Measures sister stage will be occupied by the likes of Gallows and Mystery Jets. Meanwhile The Beach Sessions, live from the Fosters Bar on Fistral Beach, will see Kids In Glass Houses, Seth Lakeman, and British Sea Power catching some rays whilst taking to the stage.
To win a pair of ‘charger’ tickets (which will get you access to all the beach sessions and two days of Unleashed), simply e-mail us your best ‘It’s too hot, I’m taking the day off work sick to lie around in the sun’ excuse to: Competitions@brandsbandsfans.com
