Hair Guitar
August 11, 2008

What?: AARP, the world’s largest advocacy organisation for the 50+ community, is launching the Air Guitar For My Guitar campaign which ties in with AARP’s sponsorship of Foreigner’s Feels Like The First Time tour. The air guitar and lip-synch competition will see entrants attempting to win Mick Jones’s autographed custom Gibson guitar and a trip to Honolulu. In related ‘grey dollar’ music marketing news, we stumbled upon this ad for Just For Men (on Make The Logo Bigger). The Touch Of Grey commercial suggests you should “never trust anyone over 90” and that, with a simple application, you can keep your “summer of life”. It showcases a grey-haired man surfing and rocking out in a band (with blonde tambourine player in tow). “The generation that swore it would never get old – didn’t,” states the commercial. Music clearly has plenty of pulling power for the older generation – just ask Ronnie Wood.
