MySpace Music (which launched last week) sees the introduction of four major brand sponsors of free music – McDonald’s, Sony Pictures, State Farm, and Toyota. Jingle re-engineered for a new generation

Back in 2007, Castrol UK ran a ringtone competition to see if both employees and the public at large could remix the classic Gustav Mahler’s ad theme that had been the brand’s staple jingle. Mark Taylor, an A-Level Music & Music Technology teacher and part-time musician, was the overall winner with his version, entitled ‘It’s Liquid Engineering’. Read more

Denny’s Restaurants in the US are running an Adopt-A-Band programme, whereby the chain sponsors bands to eat for free post-gig and host after parties. Kate Perry is the latest to find herself tucking into the RockStar Menu, a series of treats created by bands (such as Plain White T’s and the Eagles Of Death Metal) which include Taking Back Bacon Burger Fries and Plain White Shakes.
