What?: Organisers of the recent Download Festival urged fans to enter into a world-record attempt to have the “most people made up as KISS” – to coincide with the event’s headlining act. A total of 20 professional face-painters were drafted in to reach the 400 target (which they beat by 44). Aerial photographs must have looked like a scene from 101 Dalmatians.

What?: The Infadels hosted a ‘Free Things For Poor People Day’ on 17th June. The band performed “reverse busking” on a free bus in London’s Oxford Street, which featured ‘guest’ bus conductors, tombolas, raffles, and the chance to win cash prizes. Bearing in mind buses on Oxford Street move at around one mile per day, this must have brought the street to a ‘literal’ standstill.

What?: Universal has had to retract its Gotchagram promotion for Ashanti’s single, ‘The Way That I Love You’, over allegations of glorifying violence. The e-card campaign generated a fake murder news report and let users decide the choice of weapons used to avenge love cheats – ranging from knife, guillotine, and sledgehammer. Cheryl Cole has been spotted at her local hardware store as a result.
